Le Touquet Parking

Parking in Le Touquet is not normally a problem with a number of options available.
There are large car parks down by the beach that span the entire length of the promenade. Within the town if you want to just stop, pick up or drop there are a few monitored bays close to the main shops. These bays are free for one hour. They have a bollard with a countdown display that starts ticking as soon as you drive up. In theory they phone home to alert the police when the hour is up.

There is plenty of other on street parking within Le Touquet where the price varies depending on which zone you park in. As a general rule in the central area you will pay €2 per hour and in the outer zone the cost is €1. Payment is easy with the ticket machines at sensible intervals accepting Cash or Credit Cards.

Parking Restrictions

Green Zone

In the Green Zone payment is required for weekends, public holidays and the entire months of July and August. Throughout the rest of the year Green Zone parking is Free. Charges are due between 09:00 and 19:00 hours. Lunchtime parking between 12:30 and 14:30 hours is free at anytime.  The maximum you pay is for 8 hours in any day.

Red Zone

In the Red Zone payment is required at all times of the year. Charges are due between 09:00 and 19:00 hours. Lunchtime parking between 12:30 and 14:30 hours is free at anytime.

Parking Fines

Parking fines  approximately equate to the cost of a full days ticket. In my experience the cost doesn’t seem prohibitive however the time and effort required to actually pay any fine is expensive. 

Parking Tips

There is free parking directly in front of the Aqualud  during office hours between 09:00 and 14:30 hours.
If you park outside of the Green Zone on street parking is free. Le Touquet centre is relatively small so it is not that far to walk

Most of our rental  properties have allocated or on site free parking. Our larger villas have plenty of space for a number of cars. Please check the details for each holiday rental property when making a reservation.

Cycling Holidays in Le Touquet

Cycling In Le Touquet

Le Touquet is a great place to base yourself for a cycling holiday.  The town boasts over 10km of cycling trails around the town and forest areas.  There is a great choice of routes depending on if you want to go for a few hours or fancy something more challenging.
 
Rent a bike from one of the many hire shops in town and head towards the airport and riding stables. On route you will experience some great views of the Canche Bay. Riding through the residential part of the town  is very pleasurable, marvel at the beauty of the multi million Euro Art Deco Villas.  Alternatively head out of town along Avenue Francois Godin towards the beach at Stella Plage.  Stella Plage is another small beach resort sharing the same stretch of golden sand with Le Touquet. The advantage is that Stella is always much quieter than Le Touquet. You will find  some small intimate cafes and restaurants with a family feel.
 
Traffic in Le Touquet is light so even if you are not on a cycle path you should never feel intimidated. There are lots of other cyclist around so generally motorists are more aware of your presence.
 
Another notable route, recommended at sunset,  runs from the Thalassa  Sea Water Spa Centre along the beach to the yachting centre at La Baie de Canche.  En route there are many worthy stopping points to admire the sunset.

If you are renting one of our villas such as LOpale in Allée de Jonquilles then it is possible to gently cruise all the way to the beach, stress free on a great cycle route. Alternatively if you are staying in the Lakeside development of May Village just filter into the cycle lane passing by the entrance.

Ride The Tourist Train in Le Touquet

Discover  Le Touquet from the comfort of the pretty little tourist train. Hop on the train outside the Aqualud and take an enchanting tour of the town. The route takes you from the promenade to the  town centre. You will pass  historical monuments, the forest with its sumptuous villas, and the equestrian park. A great way to discover the town.
Tours are conducted in French and English and take  approximately 40 minutes.
Hop on for a great ride and buy your ticket on the train.

Available from Easter to October and during school holidays.

Fill up with family fun at the Bagatelle Theme park with over 40 attractions and shows.  A perfect crazy family day out that won’t break the bank. With tickets from around €18.50 it offers great value for money. If you book online in advance save even more.  Bagatelle Theme Parc is just a short 15 minute drive from many of our  holiday rental properties in Le Touquet.

Bagatelle opens on the 21st April until 30 September 2018. You will find the parc very clean with excellent staff who speak English. The food is really good but if you take your own there are plenty of places to have a nice picnic. There is plenty of parking  but you do have to pay for this at €5.

Bagatelle is split into 3 areas:
Baggy land for small kids.  10 attractions for the little ones including a Ball Pool, Adventure trail, Kidz Coaster, The Captain Baggy. A children’s swing boat echoing the larger Pearl Bag ride for Adults.

I personally enjoyed the Pearl Bag Swing boat especially if you are at the Bow or Stern. It gives a great sense of fun together as everyone competes to make the loudest wooo! noise

When it Rains in Le Touquet

There is plenty of things to do and see when it rains  in the Le Touquet area.  The Nausicaa Aquarium in Boulogne sur Mer is an amazing day out. Just a short 30 minute drive up the A16 from our LOpale Holiday Villa.
Alternatively if you have time to kill on your journey home its an easy stop off en route back to Calais Ferry Port.

A few facts you may not know know about penguins. Penguins can drink sea water. The birds spend around half their time in water and the other half on land. The Emperor Penguin is the tallest of all penguin species. Emperor Penguins can stay underwater for around 20 minutes at a time.  Oh and of course there are no penguins in the North Pole. The Galapagos Penguin is the only one that makes it North of the equator.

Stingrays have no bones in their body – their skeleton is made up of flexible cartilage. Different types of ray include electric rays, butterfly rays, round rays, manta rays, guitar fish and sawfish. Rays vary in size hugely. The smallest ray is the electric ray which is approximately 10cm across and weighs about 400g. The oceanic manta ray is the largest ray reaching up to 7m in wing span and weighs 2,000kg.

Getting a Ferry to France is one of the easiest ways to travel to our accommodation in Le Touquet. Our holiday rental properties are within 1 hour of Calais or the Eurotunnel terminal.

Dover to Calais Ferry
Covered by P & O  and DFDS Ferries. P & O provide a simple and convenient service – up to 46 sailings a day, with a journey time of 90 minutes. Flexible tickets allow you to choose a convenient travel time. DFDS operate up to 30 daily sailings, thanks to the addition of 2 new ships on this route, making it more convenient than ever to take the 1 hour 30 minute hop across the channel.
 
Dover to Dunkirk Car Ferry DFDS are the only operator to offer ferries between Dover and Dunkirk. Taking two hours, and with up to 24 sailings a day. Perfect for a day trip or as the start point of your holiday in Le Touquet. The drive time from Dunkirk to Le Touquet is just over an hour.
 
Folkestone to Calais (Coquelles) 
Folkestone is the Le Shuttle car passenger terminal. Eurotunnel offers regular trains from the South Coast of England to Calais. With up to 4 crossing an hour taking 35 minutes. Drive onto the train and arrive at your destination in no time.
 
All operators have a selection of flexible and discount ticket options covering a range of vehicles. On board you’ll find restaurants, cafeterias and a pub. There is ample comfortable seating and a friendly atmosphere in  the lounges. You’ll also find kids’ areas, internet access, a games room/ arcade. P & O serve a fantastic Fish and Chip meal which is always a big hit with families.

From the A2, follow the signs to Dover port. 
From the M20 motorway, follow the signs to Dover port. 

Leaving Calais Ferry Terminal follow signs for the A16. After a few miles the motorway splits, follow signs for Boulogne and Paris to get to Le Touquet. Continue along the coast on the other fork if travelling to Dunkirk.

Taking A Pet to France.

All operators except pets provided you have the relevant Pet Passport. Pets remain in the car on the car deck throughout your journey. You are not allowed on the car deck for the duration of the voyage. Your pet is in safe hands as the car is labelled with a pet sticker. Crews on the car deck look out for any animals that may be in distress.
 
Your choice of travel to start your holiday in France is very much a personal one. My advice would be, if you want a relaxed start then take a Ferry, admire the white cliffs of Dover and settle in for a nice meal.
 
Or if you want to save the relaxation for when you arrive in France. Take the Euortunnel.

The Enduro du Touquet Pas-de-Calais or beach race started out in 1975 aided by the Le Touquet mayor, Léonce Deprez. Its popularity increases every year with some 1000 motorbikes, Quad bikes, and 250,000 spectators filling the town’s hotels and self-catering villa accommodation. If you are planning on going for the weekend of motocross then book your accommodation early. The race normally takes place around the end of January or early February every year.

L'itinéraire s'étend sur 16 km et longe la plage en passant par Stella Plage et Merlimont. Le dimanche matin, le nombre de personnes et la circulation dans la ville continuent d'augmenter. Ferme St Josse est une excellente villa à louer pour le week-end ou pour des vacances plus longues. Elle permet de s'évader en toute tranquillité de la ville, tout en restant à proximité d'un bon point de vue.

Depuis la ferme de St Josse, il est facile de se rendre en voiture à la plage de Stella Plage en 10 minutes. La plage de Stella Plage a tendance à être moins fréquentée et vous pouvez avoir une bonne vue sur l'action des motards fous. Where to go bowling in Le Touquet?  

Head over to La Goudale in Cucq just a short drive from the centre of Le Touquet.

This is a great place to visit as it covers all bases for the family, Bowling, Bar and Restaurant. The restaurant is separate from the bowling alley but you can watch through a large window whilst eating your bistro-style food.

Be amazed by the huge full wall displays at the end of the alleys it is quite impressive. An added bonus is the large range of strong beers stocked, take it easy and get someone else to drive!  Situated in Cucqu, close to the Intemarche supermarket the alley is within reach of our St Josse and Les Jumeaux holiday rental properties.

What is the Twin Town Challenge?

29th April – 2nd May 2022

Established in 2014, the Twin Town Challenge takes place every two years. To date the event has raised over £850,000 for Special Effect. The delayed Twin Town 2022 is the final event and they hope to take the fundraising total to over £1m! for SpecialEffect.

Twin towns Witney – Le Touquet, 100 cars, 1 amazing weekend. The Twin Town Challenge is a fun, team-based car challenge. Buy a £500 banger, add your own style and drive it from Oxfordshire to Le Touquet, France, competing in challenges along the way. All to raise money for technology charity SpecialEffect.

What is the Twin Town Challenge?
At its simplest, the Twin Town Challenge is a fun charity car rally. Teams buy a £500 banger and pimp their ride however they like. Then over Spring Bank Holiday weekend they take an epic road trip.

Twin Town Set Off Blenheim

The route goes from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire to Witney’s twin town, Le Touquet in northern France. Along the way you’ll take on challenges and the occasional lap of a circuit. The event is in aid of SpecialEffect – a charity focused on improving the lives of the physically disabled.

They arrange a series of fun events and challenges before the main event to help you get in the spirit and meet your fellow Twin Towners. These will see you rubbing shoulders with celebrities, stoking team rivalries and having great fun.

The big jamboree is in Le Touquet itself, where our French compatriots throw a street party extravagaza. Expect live bands, fine French food and flowing drinks to help you toast your successful trip!

On the return to Merry England, afternoon tea and an awards ceremony round off a fantastic, fun weekend. All in aid of a great cause.

Every penny you donate will go directly to SpecialEffect. This helps them to provide one-to-one support that enables disabled people to work, play and lead more fulfilling lives through the use of technology.

Your donation will help to pay for occupational therapists, who take the time to understand each person’s needs. They then create customised controllers that can take the smallest movements from any part of the body and use this to control games, programs and other technology.

We are very pleased to announce that in conjunction with our Channel Management and Payment Processing partners we now support  3DS2 security on all payments to Le Touquet Holidays.

Whats 3DS2?

3DS2 provides an additional layer of security for online credit card payments by forcing the merchant to stop and request authentication from the cardholder prior to the transaction completing. European laws now require European banks to support it after  January 1st, 2021.  The UK deadline is September 15th, 2021.

Why is 3DS2 Good For Me?

The payment screens waits for confirmation and cannot complete until the verification has been returned from your mobile app or another device.   • 3DS2 is optimised across all devices including mobile. Enabling transaction confirmation by a simple click on a notification.
  • 3DS2 improves the customer experience by giving more choice over how payments are authenticated.
  • Passive sharing of more data points for each transaction enables issuers to perform better risk analysis. 
  • 3DS2 enables issuers to offer a seamless, payment experience by utilising exemptions.  So for trusted beneficiaries, you may not even be aware of authentication.
